A warm, experienced companion for children on their journey through big feelings.
I'm a play therapist based in Sandyford, Dublin. I'm also a Montessori teacher with almost thirty years of experience working with children aged 3 to 12, and a mother of four.
I hold honours degrees in both Montessori education (3 to 12 years) and early years education (0 to 6 years). For many years I've been self-employed, offering a wide variety of play and creative opportunities for children to explore and grow.
In 2021 I completed a therapeutic play skills course with the Children's Therapy Centre, and I loved it so much that I went on to gain first-class honours in a post-graduate certificate and diploma in play therapy with the University of Galway and APAC.
I have a personal love of art and creativity, and I've witnessed, personally, with my own children, and in my school, the healing power they can offer.
Mental health difficulties are so common now, and children experiencing them are getting younger and younger. Play and creativity as a medium of therapy appeals to me because of how it works on both a conscious and unconscious level. It's also often a more enjoyable, less stressful kind of therapy for children and young people.
Play Therapy provides a safe, containing relationship where a child is free to use a variety of creative tools to work through the things that are holding them back.
CarolinePlay therapy is a specialised clinical training. Here is the journey that has brought me here.
